Given AwayPosted on April 26th, 2009 @ 12:58 pm
I have given up Eliza Bennett Web a while ago, as well as Aimee Teegarden Online, Kaya Scodelario Web and Monica Raymund Online.
I just didn’t have the motivation for the sites anymore. And with Aimee I really didn’t think that her performance on CSI Miami was good. :/
But I have been allowed to adopt the domain january-jones.us from Gertie and the site is now up and running at January Jones Web! The biography is the heart of the fansite so far, I sat a long time on that one.
For now I have 1 or 2 more fansites coming up but who knows what the future will bring. I’ve never been the one to stick to my opinion when it comes to fansites, maybe I’ll have more fansites in the making soon. *lol*

Designs/LayoutsPosted on April 18th, 2009 @ 9:48 pm
You know, I’m really wondering why we should even try to come up with original layouts anymore. People will copy it right away and take credit for it. Saying they were inspired by a designer or a layout and have it look almost the same, that’s not being inspired, it’s copying.
I have seen this three times now and it pisses me off. One person even makes money with taking the designing ideas of another person and this sucks. Just come up with your own ideas, damnit!

Sometimes I just want to close all my fansites and enjoy the music or the shows my stars do. Most of the time I enjoy doing fansites but there’s stuff surrounding the whole thing that can really make you hate it.
There’s so much pressure, aggressiveness, jealousy and shallowness in this whole “business”. And the fact that people make fansites just to make money is really putting me off.
I thought we were doing fansites for fun, maybe to improve our designing skills or mostly just because we want to support the stars that we love. But I think this isn’t the focus of the fansite world anymore.
It’s all about competition, who is the best, which site is being recognized by the celeb etc.
Now tell me: how is this fun?
All of the reasons often make fansites a liability and a drag. I want to update my fansites when I want to, when I have the motivation and when I enjoy doing it and not because I have the feeling that I have to. It’s not about who is the best, at least it shouldn’t be.
